West Coast friends, on February 26 at Tyrant Studios, Applied Silence will perform two sets, one consisting of radically reimagined selections from our debut LP Screen Door + one of new songs from Finisher, our project in development. Applied Silence Janus-head Stephen & José will be joined by the lovely and talented Shanto Acharia & JP Carter (both Fond of Tigers), Daniel Deorksen (tyrant-in-chief), & Ida Nilsen (Great Aunt Ida, The Beans, et al). Following fieldwork in Vancouver and Calgary, Applied Silence spent the bounteous week of February 3 to 8 hiding from deep freeze and global hellscape, developing new work under the auspices of Playwrights Workshop Montreal. We made sundry sounds in the studio with fellow artists Ben Brown, Michael Feuerstack, Holly Gauthier-Frankel, and Nicolas Royer-Artuso. The PWM residency marks our maiden voyage to the world of Finisher, a song cycle about labour on land and sea, family-making and-breaking, and migration. More soon to come.
